Nineteen of the nearly two dozen Democratic presidential candidates were in Cedar Rapids yesterday for the Iowa Democratic Hall of Fame Dinner.

Joe Biden wasn’t there.  He attended his granddaughter’s high school graduation in Washington, D.C.

Biden is expected to visit Ottuma, Iowa tomorrow.

A poll released over the weekend shows Biden leading the 23 candidates running for the Democratic nomination.  He is ahead by 8 points at 24%.  That is down from 30%.  Bernie Sanders was second with 16%, Elizabeth Warren with 15% and Pete Buttigieg with 14%.  All of the other candidates have single digit support.

President Donald Trump plans to visit western Iowa tomorrow.  He will tour a renewable energy facility in Council Bluffs.  He will highlight year-round access to higher blends of ethanol.

This week the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Music Association is opening a new museum in Arnolds Park. The non-profit association was established in the 90s to honor state venues, radio personalities and musicians who have been in the rock industry for 25 years.

There will be touch screens connected to a database will allow people to discover Iowa musicians that may have been forgotten. Museum officials say as the museum grows, they hope it will connect new artists with more people.

There are also traditional museum exhibits and two small theaters screening short documentaries.

The grand opening for the Iowa Rock ‘n’ Roll Hall of Fame Museum is on Thursday with special events through the weekend.
