Sioux Center Set to Expand Aquatic Center

The city of Sioux Center is moving into the final stages of design for expanding its aquatic center. Doug Calsbeek of the Sioux County Capital-Democrat has this report.

At the Monday, November 6, meeting of the Sioux Center City Council, council members approved moving forward with the final design for expanding the town’s aquatic center.

Plans call for the addition of outdoor features such as a lazy river, diving boards and water slides.

City Manager Scott Wynia said the project will be financed with existing sources, such as tax-increment financing, the local option sales tax and cash reserves.

After the design process is completed, the city anticipates the start of construction in the spring, with a possible opening date in the summer of 2019.
