School Board and City Elections: Bob Scott Wins, Rhonda Capron Fails in Bid

On The Exchange this week we talk with some of the candidates from this general election.  Mayor Bob Scott will talk about his re-election and Rhonda Capron says goodbye to the Sioux City Council after eight years of service.  SOHO restaurant and bar owner Julie Schoenherr bested Capron.  We will speak with Schoenherr as well.

And we hear about the four new Sioux City Community School Board members: Western Iowa Tech Community College Executive Julie Albert,  businessmen Taylor Goodvin, and Dan Greenwell, and banker and Siouxland Human Rights Commission Member Monique Scarlett.  Appointed board member Miyuki Nelson and computer programmer Shaun Broyhill failed to gain a seat on the board.

Also today, in advance of Veterans Day on Monday, we talk with one of the authors of a new book featuring little-seen photography from WWII in 1945.  "Aftershock" is a collection of sometimes startling images from the war, including concentration camp images and depictions of starving children in Europe.

And we get a preview of the Project Rehema concert for Tanzanian orphans that will take place Monday evening at the Bishop Heelan Fine Arts Building.  Also, Siouxland Public Media Sheila Brummer has a report from a special c0nvocation at Western Iowa Tech Community College this week that featured the sounds of the New Life Band of Tanzania.
