Producer and rapper Jason Rienert will soon release a mixtape entitled Short Attention Span, Vol. 1. It features Jason and eight other rappers rhyming over old-school beats. The language is playful and dense, layering challenges, boasts, and insults in a braggadocio style that is one of popular music's most enjoyable traditions. Jason joined us to talk about the tradition of rap in Sioux City as well as the mixtape, which is available for free download on Bandcamp beginning June 30.
