A new program will allow Siouxland students to complete coursework at Iowa State University Design West and Western Iowa Tech Community College before transferring to Ames. Siouxland Public Media’s Mary Hartnett as the details.

Representatives from Iowa State’s College of Design and Western Iowa Tech Community College announced the program Friday. It will offer one core design course each semester in the 2017-2018 school year at Design West downtown. Iowa State University faculty members will teach the courses on site. Two other Core Design Program classes will be offered via distance education. Students in the Core Design Program who complete the courses or an associate of arts degree at WIT could then apply to the College of Design’s professional degree programs.
