Regents Tuition Increase

The Iowa Board of Regents approved a plan at yesterday’s meeting in Cedar Falls to raise tuition two-percent at each of the state’s three public universities over the next year . . .  and the year after that.  Siouxland Public Media’s Mary Hartnett has this report.

The Des Moines Register reports that base tuition at the University of Iowa would be $7,270 and about thirty dollars less at Iowa State University and the University of Northern Iowa next year.  Upper-division undergraduates in some programs, non-resident undergraduate, graduate, international and professional students would also pay more. The increase for the 2018-19 academic year would depend on whether the Iowa Legislature provides an additional 2 percent in state funding to the regent system next year.

Gov. Terry Branstad so far hasn’t said if he’ll approve $12.7 million dollars. For Siouxland Public Media, I’m Mary Hartnett.
