South Bend Mayor Pete Buttigieg and a couple hundred supporters braved a snow storm on Tuesday night to attend a town hall meeting at West Middle School in Sioux City.

Buttigieg told the crowd he is the candidate who can unite the country.  He also answered questions on many different topics including the national debt, vaping, the cost of living and rights for the LGBTQ community.

A new national poll shows Buttigieg pulling into second place in the race for the White House.

The poll released by Quinnipiac University on November 26, 2019 put former Vice President Joe Biden on top with 24-percent support among Democratic voters and Independent voters who lean left.  Buttigieg received 16-percent pulling ahead of Massachusetts Senator Elizabeth Warren, who saw her support fall by half.  She stands at 14-percent and is almost tied with Vermont Senator Bernie Sanders.

The poll also showed about one-tenth of people who responded still don’t know who they want as president.

Last week, another poll showed Buttigieg on top in the Iowa Caucuses.
