4thDistrict Congressman Steve King’s remarks today to a conservative group in Urbandale about abortion and rape are being denounced by state and national leaders.  They call to mind controversial comments King made last year about western civilization.

King was talking to the Westside Conservative Club in Urbandale about his anti-abortion heartbeat bill which makes no exceptions for rape or incest.

Then King asked what the population would look like if those exceptions were made through history.

Joe Biden is taking an aggressive approach to defending the Affordable Care Act, challenging not just President Donald Trump but also some of his Democratic Presidential Rivals in the Iowa Caucuses.   Many of them want to replace the current insurance system with a fully government-run model.

Biden today said his plan would add a "public option" to the 2010 health care overhaul, with expanded coverage paid for by raising taxes on the wealthiest Americans.

Randy Feenstra, one of the three fellow Republicans trying to oust U.S. Rep. Steve King, brought in four times more campaign cash than the congressman over the first three months of the 2019-20 election cycle.

King's campaign organization reported he raised a little more than 61 thousand dollars for the first quarter, which trailed the $260 thousand raised by Feenstra, a state senator from Hull, Iowa.  Former Iowa Gov. Terry Branstad, who is now the U.S. Ambassador to China, donated to Feenstra’s campaign.
