Congressman Steve King has announced that he will host a town hall meeting in Sac County next Saturday, September 21st.. The town hall is open to the public and to the media.

The Sac County town hall will be held in Wall Lake, Iowa at the Wall Lake Shelter House located at Fourth and Stuart Streets. The town hall will run from 8:30 to 9:30 a.m. 

This will mark the 39th of the 39 town halls King has held in Iowa's Fourth District this year, beginning in January.

Flooding from the torrential rain that's soaked much of southeastern South Dakota closed schools for a second day today submerged city streets and caused some to evacuate their homes. In Brandon, northeast of Sioux Falls, the heavy rain turned the local golf course into a lake. 

The cities of Mitchell, Dell Rapids and Madison have been hit especially hard with the area receiving more than 7 inches of rain over two days.

The former head of the Iowa Department of Human Services says he was asked to resign his position after refusing a request from Governor Kim Reynolds.   Jerry Foxhoven says the governor asked him to continue paying the salary of a woman moving from his department to the governor's office.

Foxhoven says he didn’t approve paying the salary of Elizabeth Matney, because he believed she was already being paid by the state for her new position. Foxhoven says he was fired two days after that decision.

The former head of the Iowa department of human services Jerry Foxhoven says he has been discussing his resignation with authorities, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Iowa State Auditor, says the Cedar Rapids Gazette.  

Summer is finally here and Siouxland Public Media took “The Exchange” live to the Dorothy Pecaut Nature Center on June 21, 2019.

Guest host Sheila Brummer was joined by experts on the environment, conservation and wildlife. 

Education program director at the Nature Center, Dawn Snyder, shared details on the offerings at the facility this summer.  She also talked about the year-round programs available to the public.   

State regulators today approved wagering on college and professional sports at The Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Sioux City and Grand Falls Casino and Golf Resort in Larchwood.

Without discussion, the Iowa Racing and Gaming Commission approved projects requested by the Hard Rock and Grand Falls Casinos.

Work is set to begin Monday on the Hard Rock project that will convert 400 square feet of existing casino space into a sportsbook.

This week we will talk about all things water. Water quality, water management, and the apparently rising waters of the earth. First though, we talk with a man who is fighting an effort by the state legislature to do away with the Des Moines Water Works. Lawmakers have been debating a bill that would essentially dismantle the organization.  Bill Stowe is the CEO of the Des Moines Water Works.
