At a town hall at the Ho-Chunk Centre in Sioux City on Saturday, Congressman Steve King addressed several issues; including trade, his goals for Congress and the most pressing issue out of Washington, D.C., impeachment.

King says the impeachment of President Trump started the day he was elected president.

More flooding is likely along the Missouri River after heavy rains and flooding upstream in South Dakota.

The National Weather Service says some moderate flooding is likely this week along the river between Sioux City, Iowa, and Rulo, Nebraska.

Some parts of South Dakota received as much as 7 inches of rain over two days.

The Missouri River is expected to crest later this week after rising significantly.

Heavy rain has caused Flooding in southeastern South Dakota and closed schools for a second day today.  There were also some who had to evacuate their homes. 

Mitchell, Dell Rapids, and Madison received more than 7 inches of rain over two days

The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers says it will briefly reduce water releases from Gavins Point Dam this weekend, then increase them later next week. The goal is to evacuate record-setting rainfall that has fallen this month across much of the upper Missouri River basin.

Iowa's unemployment rate climbed slightly in July to 2.5% but remains among the lowest in the nation.

Iowa Workforce Development announced Friday that the unemployment rate rose from 2.4% in June. The rate had been stuck at that level since July 2018.

Although the unemployment rate increased, the number of residents with jobs also rose by about 4,000 compared to June. The number of unemployed residents increased by about 1,400.

Iowa's unemployment rate was third-lowest in the nation, behind Vermont and North Dakota and tied with New Hampshire.

Democratic presidential candidate Pete Buttigieg wants to increase opportunities for national service and build a network of 1 million service members by 2026.   

The South Bend, Indiana, mayor introduced his national service policy today while in Sioux City.

He says the voluntary plan would help people of different backgrounds form connections like the ones he formed while serving with the Navy Reserve in Afghanistan.
