Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds faces intense criticism for refusing a statewide “stay-at-home” order.  One local state lawmakers says it’s something he also would like to see enacted as well.  Siouxland Public Media’s Sheila Brummer reports.

State Representative Chris Hall says Iowa need clear guidance when it comes to the COVID-19 pandemic.

“You can look around and see people are continuing to use public space; through no bad intentions of their own are putting others, especially older Iowans at risk.”

Lawmakers from Iowa, Nebraska and South Dakota gathered this morning at Western Iowa Tech Community College for the Tri-State Legislative Forum 

Childcare and workforce retention were on the mind of many state and local leaders.  Iowa is often referred to as a childcare “desert.”  Lack of childcare can be a deal-breaker for those who want to take a job in Siouxland.

Traffic still being diverted on Interstate 29 near Wesley Parkway.  A fire broke out this afternoon near an interchange and that caused the closure. Sioux City Fire Rescue is on the scene of the fire.  

The Iowa Department of Transportation says traffic is being diverted near the I-29 exits at mile markers 147 and 148 in Sioux City.

An IDOT official says at 3:30 p.m. a fire took place under the primary northbound I-29 lane over Perry Creek.
