The Sioux City Symphony Orchestra takes us to a galaxy far, far away...not that long from now, actually as they open the 2018-2019 season with Star Wars - A New Hope this weekend. We've got theater covering everything from Frankenstein to Junie B. Jones and you can't throw a rock without hitting some kind of mineral or fossil show this weekend.

Gretchen welcomes Ellen Osborn to Opus today. Osborn is a singer and actor when not at her day job (as an attorney) and she talks about some of her favorite roles, productions and musical pieces.

Sioux City Symphony Orchestra Conductor/Music Director Ryan Haskins sits down with Gretchen on this episode of Opus. Ryan has a preview of the music on the schedule for this upcoming season of concerts, including film music from John Williams' score to Star Wars A New Hope.

Gretchen has a bevy of guests dropping by a live broadcast of Opus at Momo's, next door to the Orpheum Theater, the site for this weekend's ground-breaking performances of West Side Story. She talks with SCSO Board President, Juliet Everist, as well as Christie Tremaine. Also she talks with SCSO Conductor, Ryan Haskins and the production's Associate Director, Christopher Murrah among others.

An action packed Opus with Part 1 devoted to the massive West Side Story Production that the Sioux City Symphony is working on for next week.  Gretchen talks with Maestro Haskins as well as Alaina Viau who is overseeing just about every aspect of the production from actors to scenery and lighting. Also we get an actor's perspective from Officer Krupke, himself, played by Matthew Krob.
