Shawn Holt leads the Teardrops for a new generation of Chicago Blues you can see them at Vangarde Arts. Klaire Lockheart and Pauline Sensenig both open shows at the Sioux City Art Center and Shot in the Dark and LAMB both have shows this weekend.

Today is veterans day and vets, city and county officials met this morning at the Woodbury County Courthouse to pay tribute.   Mary Jordan is the director of the Sioux City Vet Center.  Jordan told the group of around 125 people that her organization serves combat veterans, and helps them readjust to civilian life.

The Sioux City International Film Festival and the 16th Annual Kingdom of Riverssance are both happening this weekend in and around your usual assortment of theater, art and live music. Plus Brioux City hosts the 2nd annual Briouxfest.

Banned Books Week, what is it, and when does it happen? Why is it important for a community to celebrate Banned Books Week? What is the difference between a challenge or banning? Jenn & Kelsey address these questions and more with the help of special guest Zach Freking-Smith, Director of the Cherokee Public Library.

Fantasy books may hold legends of heroes comprised of many tales. Some tall, some not. For some storytellers love to enhance details to make it more awe-inspiring. Or simply, details are lost through the passing of each generation. Such is true for this book which holds the tales of many such as Taborlin the Great, recognized for knowing “the name of the wind” which allowed him to call on it and bend to his will; The Fae, who live in a different realm and govern supernatural powers. Then there is the story of Kvothe, the protagonist of this book.
