Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds has signed a bill into law putting new limits on government agency diversity trainings and school lessons related to racism and sexism.

The new law says trainings and lessons must not promote certain ideas, including that the US and the state of Iowa are systemically racist or sexist.

In a statement, Reynolds claims that “critical race theory” teaches kids to judge people based on their race or gender. She says, quote, “I am proud to have worked with the legislature to promote learning, not discriminatory indoctrination.”

Voters in two northwest Iowa school districts are going to the polls today to decide the fate of two school bond issues.

Storm Lake and Sergeant Bluff voters will have a chance to approve or reject the plans.

School officials say enrollment is growing and more space is necessary.

In Sergeant Bluff, the $33 million bond issue is smaller than three previous referendums and those failed.

The Storm Lake measure calls for a $15 million plan to build a new early elementary school and a new middle school gymnasium.
