Have you ever wondered what happened to your favorite artists? On this B-Sides with Bolin and Blumberg, we take a listen to four bands which were very popular during their times, but which have since faded a bit over the years.
Collective Soul is one of those groups that garnered much attention back when they first hit the scene in 1990. Although still together, the band was really a hit with their first two albums. We showcase two of their hits which drew critical and commercial success when first released.
Spin Doctors were another band from that era whose first album went triple platinum amid much critical acclaim. We play three tunes taken from their first two records including Jimmy Olsen's Blues from Pocketful of Kryptonite.
Next comes Spirit. These guys started in the late sixties and put out four discs to high praise, but they never did get much in the way of critical success before two members spilt to form another band, Jo Jo Gunne.
On the show, Johnnie and I play three Spirit cuts and two from Jo Jo Gunne. All five songs show their musical innovations although neither group did much commercially. The songs include Fresh Garbage and Nature's Way from Spirit and Run, Run, Run from Jo Jo Gunne.
Listen and recall the memories each one of these bands engendered. That's the B-Sides with Bolin and Blumberg only on the best place for rock, Siouxland Public Media.
