The Iowa Department of Transportation re-opened a 10-mile stretch of Interstate 29 in western Iowa.

Republican lawmakers have chosen Pat Grassley to lead the Iowa House of Representatives. The decision comes a week after Speaker Linda Upmeyer announced she’s stepping down.
Grassley is considered the speaker-select until the full House votes to install him as speaker in 2020.
He’s a farmer from New Hartford and the grandson of U.S. Senator Chuck Grassley. He chaired the House committee that handles state budgets.
Grassley says House Republicans are unified behind their new leadership team, and says he wants to be “as open as possible” in his new position.
Grassley was asked if his grandfather made calls to lawmakers on his behalf.
A Dordt University professor of political science says he is running for the state Senate District 2 seat now held by Republican Randy Feenstra. Feenstra is vacating the position to run in the primary next June against incumbent 4thdistrict Republican Congressman Steve King.
Taylor says he is a constitutional conservative with a consistent pro-life stance. In 2012, he was a delegate to the Republican National Convention.
