Here’s FEMA spokesperson Rosie Rey.

“Really get registered, we encourage people to do that.”

Rey says the deadline for applying for Federal Assistance is May 23rdtwo months after the President declared Woodbury County a disaster area after flooding on March 12th.

There are teams from FEMA going door-to-door in Sioux City.  They already assisted people living in Hornick, a community devastated by high water.

The Disaster Recovery Center is open Monday to Saturday 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m.

Iowa DOT officials are asking lawmakers for money to buy extra salt for next season.

Radio Iowa reports the top administrator for the DOT says Iowa saw the most severe winter since the early 2000s. He wants to start buying salt now that prices are low instead of waiting to buy salt in the late fall when it costs more.  The DOT needs about nine million extra dollars.

The plan has passed committees in the House and Senate.
