A center is open in Woodbury County to help people impacted by recent flooding or groundwater issues.  

The Multi Agency Resource Center opened over the weekend at The Security Institute on the campus of Western Iowa Tech Community College.  

It will be available this week; Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 2 to 6 p.m.   

The center was organized by Woodbury County Emergency Management and Community Organizations Active in Disasters.  

Some of the agencies taking part are the Salvation Army, American Red Cross and Community Action Agency.

The University of Nebraska system is helping people deal with historic flooding across the state.

The University of Nebraska-Lincoln is coordinating volunteer reception centers, mobile water-testing units and resource open houses that feature agencies offering recovery aid.

UNL is adjusting some financial requirements for students facing hardship because of the flood, such as waiving application fees or deferring enrollment deposits. 

The University of Nebraska Foundation has launched an emergency assistance fund for students and employees.

Early estimates say the March flooding caused nearly $1.4 billion in damage.

Tolerance Week started today in Sioux City.  Several events are planned to help people focus on our similarities instead of our differences and to remember the events of the Holocaust.  

There is a screening of the documentary movie “Who Will Write our History” tonight at the Cargill Auditorium on the Campus of Western Iowa Tech Community College.
