SC Considers Changes in Water Rates to Local Cities, Impeachment Process Causes Hard Feelings

121619 504

The Sioux City Council is expected to vote today to vote on an ordinance that would amend water rates for South Sioux City and Dakota Dunes.

According to the Sioux City Journal, the City of Sioux City entered into agreements for water service with South Sioux City and Dakota Dunes in 2002. The agreement with Dakota Dunes was amended in 2004.

The 2020 rates for South Sioux City will decrease by 7.3 percent, while Dakota Dunes' rates will decrease by 4.8 percent. The minimum monthly charge is set at $1,000 per community.

4th district Republican Congressman Steve King has made it clear he’ll vote against impeaching President Trump this week, but the three Democrats from Iowa who serve in the U.S. House have not announced how they’ll vote.

About two dozen people gathered at the Iowa Republican Party headquarters this weekend to show their support of the president, according to Radio Iowa.

State Senator Brad Zaun of Urbandale said Democrats had been “disrespectful” of President Trump since the day he was elected.

Zaun mentioned Iowa’s two new Democratic congresswomen — Abby Finkenauer of Dubuque and Cindy Axne of West Des Moines, who were elected in 2018.

Zaun said he was very upset with what some representatives have done out there.  Eric Branstad, a senior adviser to Trump’s 2020 re-election campaign in Iowa, also spoke.

Branstad is the oldest son of former Iowa Governor Terry Branstad, who’s now Trump’s Ambassador to China. Neither Branstad nor Zaun mentioned Iowa Congressman Dave Loebsack, a Democrat from Iowa City who is not seeking reelection in 2020.
