Iowa’s Board of Regents ---meeting in Ames today---will be setting tuition at the three state universities.
Today’s vote –hiking undergraduate ….. tuition three-point-nine-percent---at the University of Iowa and Iowa State is nearly a full-percent more than Regents last November were predicting last November.
But …that was contingent on state legislators appropriating 18-million dollars to the Regents. But they’re receiving six-million less.
Even so…Regent Milt Dakovich…says he likes the Board’s new predictability plan….
Audio: “I think it’s a lot better mechanism than we’ve had in the past. Previously, we’ve been setting tuition prior to the legislative session. We’ll start now after the legislative session. Provides a lot more predictability for students and their families.”
Today’s vote is for no tuition increase at the University of Northern Iowa---- to help UNI compete for students.
