Presidential Candidates Have Until Monday at Noon to Ask for Recanvass of Caucus Results

020720 304

Presidential candidates now have extra time to request a recount of the Iowa Caucuses. The Iowa Democratic Party is giving the campaigns until noon Monday to ask for a recanvass of the caucus results.

The results from Monday night’s Iowa Caucus were delayed by a malfunctioning mobile app used to report the numbers from each precinct. Multiple news outlets have also reported discrepancies in the data after it was compiled manually by party staffers. In some cases, it appears candidates with no support in the first alignment gained support in the second when that should not have been allowed.

The Iowa Democrats say they will only recanvass the paper records based on the request of a presidential campaign.

Hard Rock Hotel & Casino General Manager Jim Franke announced his resignation this morning at a Missouri River Historical Development meeting.

Franke became the casino's GM in March 2018, replacing previous GM Todd Moyer.

MRHD executive director Katie Colling said that the nonprofit had not anticipated Franke's departure, calling it "unexpected news" and saying they were "sorry to hear it."

In an internal email sent to Hard Rock staff yesterday that was shared with the Journal, Franke wrote he will depart in early March, but "will stay as long as it takes to ensure a smooth transition. He cited personal reasons for resigning.
