The ousted Iowa Department of Human Services Director Jerry Foxhoven says he has discussed his resignation with authorities, including the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and the Iowa State Auditor, according to the Cedar Rapids Gazette. Foxhoven says Gov. Kim Reynolds asked him to resign publicly without explaining why last month.
In an email to The Gazette late yesterday, Foxhoven said that, while he has not shared details of his departure publicly, he has been “completely open about what has happened with the appropriate authorities.” Foxhoven said he has also spoken to a Republican House member and a Republican Senator who he didn’t name.
Foxhoven suddenly resigned as director of the Department of Human Services, at Reynolds’ request, on June 17. He told a reporter with Pitchfork, a national music publication, on Friday he had been forced out after Reynolds’ staff asked him to do something illegal and he refused. Governor Reynolds told a Cedar Rapids radio station recently that there is "no reason" to explain why she asked Foxhoven to resign.
It looks like the undeveloped Loess Hills land overlooking North Middle School will not be disturbed. Yesterday, The Sioux City Council approved a request from developer Rodney Lieber to withdraw plans to excavate undeveloped the land for a residential subdivision.
