Rescue crews responded to Little Sioux Park, in Correctionville Tuesday afternoon for a suspected drowning. Siouxland News/KMEG Television reports it happened around two this afternoon. A passerby assisted in the rescue and then performed CPR on a child. The child was flown by medical helicopter to MercyOne in Sioux City. No other details, including the boy’s age or condition are being released at this time.
Siouxland District Health reports just one new case of the novel coronavirus in Woodbury County for 3,360 in all.
The number of deaths remains at 44.
In a 24 period in Iowa, almost 400 more people tested positive for a total of more than 35,800. According to the state coronavirus website almost half of people who tested positive are between the ages of 18 and 40. There have been 756 deaths with 401 connected to long-term care facilities.

South Dakota health officials say they have not seen an uptick in community spread of the coronavirus after thousands of people gathered for Independence Day celebrations in the western part of the state.
Gov. Kristi Noem has encouraged public gatherings in recent weeks.
She held an outdoor fireworks celebration without social distancing at Mount Rushmore on July 3.
She also pushed for a Professional Bull Riders competition that allowed fans into a Sioux Falls arena this weekend. She even appeared at that event on horseback carrying the American flag.
South Dakota’s report of 25 cases was one of the lowest since April. There have been 7,524 positive cases and 109 deaths. Union county has 156 positive cases and one death.
The State of Nebraska reports 288 deaths and almost 21,400 positive cases with three more in Dakota County for 1,822 and 39 deaths.
Iowa Governor Kim Reynolds says she may take a “targeted” approach to new coronavirus-related restrictions and won’t shut down the whole state.
She says she’s monitoring increasing coronavirus infections and hospitalizations in the state, and is considering different responses.
“I think the most important thing is we can be very targeted in those responses. You will not see me shut down the entire state. We know where the increases are taking place. We have some idea what we believe it may be tied to. So, we will target our response based on the information that the department of public health and epidemiologist team is collecting.”
Reynolds mentioned bars being open and protests as potentially contributing to increasing infections among young Iowans. She says she may consider ordering bars back to 50 percent capacity.
State Auditor Rob Sand says COVID-19 test results from the Test Iowa program are not being shared directly with the Iowa Department of Public Health.
Instead data from the State Hygienic Lab first goes to two private companies that contracted with the state to create the program.
Sand says state law requires immediate reporting to the Department of Public Health and that taking an indirect path makes the data vulnerable to hacking and fraud.
“We should not be taking unnecessary risks with data related to the pandemic.”
The department has not said why Test Iowa results are reported differently from other test data. In a statement, the department says the Iowa Attorney General’s office has determined the system complies with state law.

The Tribal Council voted late month to remove two members they say violated an ethics and moral conduct polity for refusing to complete mandatory drug and alcohol testing.
