Iowa Republican Mariannette Miller-Meeks will be provisionally seated as a member of the 117th Congress Sunday. That's even as her Democratic opponent Rita Hart continues to mount a challenge to her election.
It was the closest federal race in the nation this year.  Democratic House Speaker Nancy Pelosi said in a news conference today she would seat Miller-Meeks on Sunday along with the rest of the members and members-elect of the U.S. House of Representatives.  Miller-Meeks will take an oath of office, but the review of Iowa's election results will continue and may affect her status.
Gov. Kim Reynolds issued a proclamation today setting a special election date to fill Miller-Meek's seat state senate seat. The election is scheduled for January 26, 2021. The proclamation follows the announced resignation of State Senator Mariannette Miller-Meeks.
