The Democratic National Committee recommends Iowa scrap its plans for telephone-based virtual caucuses next year, citing security concerns.

The caucuses are regularly criticized for not being inclusive.
And the Iowa Democratic Party came up with a plan in February to give participants the opportunity to make decisions via phone.

The DNC got to a point where they felt given where things are and given the threat landscape that exists that virtual caucus technology in this cycle should not be used.
The DNC says unless compliance can be met through other means, Iowa should consider a waiver to return to only in-person caucuses for 2020.
But Price says the party will continue to look for ways to make the caucuses more accessible and insists Iowa will remain first in the nation for the presidential nominating process.
The former head of the Iowa Department of Human Services today is seeking $2 million for wrongful termination. Jerry Foxhoven alleges that Gov. Kim Reynolds fired him for questioning whether the department should be paying one of her staffers to assist with the state's Medicaid program.
Foxhoven was ousted from his job on June 17, a day after sending an email to agency employees gushing about the late rapper Tupac Shakur. Foxhoven later said he didn't think his firing was related to that email.
