Iowa Gov. Reynolds Vetoes a Measure to Limit the Att. General's Authority, 4:04

Democratic presidential candidate Kirsten Gillibrand today has scheduled a Siouxland stop, while another candidate, Kamala Harris, is canceling her events in Sioux City and other Iowa towns to cast a vote in the U.S. Senate, according to the Sioux City Journal.

Harris had planned to speak tomorrow afternoon at Morningside College about Sioux City about teacher pay and other issues. However, the Harris campaign said that event, plus others in Iowa on Friday, will not be held, so she can vote on a disaster relief measure tomorrow night.

A Harris event in Sioux City with the Truman Club members of the Woodbury County Democratic Party is also canceled tomorrow.

Republican Governor Kim Reynolds has vetoed a measure that would’ve limited the Democratic attorney general’s authority to join out-of-state lawsuits.

the two officials had a private meeting and reached an agreement that gives the governor more say in the attorney general’s actions.

Reynolds says she has concerns about Iowa Attorney General Tom Miller joining lawsuits in conflict with her goals and those of Republican lawmakers. But Reynolds says she’s “cautious” about redefining the scope of another elected official’s work.

Miller has agreed he won’t join out-of-state lawsuits on behalf of the state without the governor’s permission.

This means Miller is unlikely to join more lawsuits against the Trump administration, which some Republican lawmakers cited as the reason for this effort.
