There could be a “recanvass” of the results of the Iowa caucuses. The chairman of the Democratic National Committee Tom Perez tweeted Thursday that “enough is enough” after three days of technical issues and delays. He says the recanvass is needed to “assure public confidence.” Pete Buttigieg and Bernie Sanders are nearly tied for the lead with 97% of precincts reporting. There have been reports of Trump supporters calling the Democrats’ on caucus night on the results reporting hotline. Republican Governor Kim Reynolds says those reports are “false.”
The Iowa Democratic Party told multiple news outlets that the hotline for precinct chairs to report caucus results was backed up, partly because of Trump supporters making prank calls.
Two people died in a house fire on the west side of Sioux City this morning. The fire broke out on West First Street about seven blocks west of Hamilton Boulevard.
Sioux City Fire Rescue says three adults; two men and one woman went to MercyOne in critical condition.
