A pending trade deal with Canada and Mexico is generating some bipartisan support in a political climate that is often seen as deeply divided.
Former Ag Secretary Tom Vilsack toured the Anderson Erickson Dairy in Des Moines with Sen. Chuck Grassley today. The two say they share a commitment to improving and modernizing trade with Mexico and Canada.

Vilsack is now the president of the U.S. Dairy Export Council.
The House will take up the deal first. Grassley said as long as it passes there, he’s confident it will get through the Senate.

The pilot of United Flight 232 has died. Al Haynes helped save 184 passengers and crew members in July of 1989. The aircraft suffered a major malfunction in the air and was forced to crash land at the Sioux Gateway Airport.
Gary Brown, Director of Emergency Services in Woodbury County and friend of Haynes,
says Haynes was one of the most humble people he ever met and wasn’t comfortable with the title of hero after the crash.
When he talked about the crash and the response and how they got the aircraft to Sioux City he gave credit to his entire cockpit crew.”
Brown says Haynes considered Sioux City his second home.
