Half of Iowa Caucus Results to be Released at 4:00 p.m.

Iowa's traditional role of creating certainty in the presidential nominating contest has been turned on its head thanks to a meltdown in last night’s caucus. About half of the caucus results are expected this afternoon at 4:00 central time, but final results may not be imminent.

A fractional result may not provide clarity in a race that saw a number of candidates bunched together in the polls.

The plan already drew objections. On a conference call, a representative of former Vice President Joe Biden pushed back against the plan by party officials to release partial results

Billionaire Michael Bloomberg is doubling the already massive amount of money he will spend on advertising.  It is an effort to lift the former New York City mayor's presidential bid and capitalize on the chaotic outcome of last night’s Iowa caucuses. According to the ad-tracking firm Advertising Analytics, Bloomberg has already spent over $300 million on TV, radio and digital advertising.

A South Dakota state senator on today pulled a bill that would have required school counselors to tell parents if their child expressed feelings of gender dysphoria or self-harm, saying he is yielding to an expected House bill related to parental rights.

Sen. Phil Jensen, a Rapid City Republican, tabled his bill in the Senate Education Committee.

The American Civil Liberties Union welcomed the move, saying the bill would infringe on students' right to privacy. The organization said the bill could have put students whose parents don't affirm their gender identity at heightened risk of physical abuse and homelessness.
