Going Country

Jan 6, 2020

Country music is one of America's greatest innovations. On this segment of the B-Sides with Bolin and Blumberg, Johnnie and I focus on the most recent formula for this music. In fact, we go coast-to-coast to play country music connected to its roots in the past century.

We start our journey in the mid-section of the continent with Hot Rize, a bluegrass band from Colorado, and K.D. Lang from Canada.

We then head west for two songs by Bakersfield's Dwight Yoakum, one of which includes the legendary Buck Owens. The it's down to Texas for Asleep at the Wheel and Kelly Willis.

Alabama's Emmylou Harris is next followed by the Amazing Rhythm Aces, Roseanne Cash from Memphis, and Hank Williams III from Nashville.

We end our trek in New York City with two cuts from the World Famous Bluejays, who recorded their songs in Brooklyn.

So there you have it, this current ensemble of more recent country fare only to be heard on the best place for music Siouxland Public Media.
