This week on The Exchange, we hear both sides of a controversy over the use of American Recovercy Plan Act funds for the new Woodbury Count Law Enforcement Center in Sioux City. Some residents and labor leaders saycoronavirus money should go to help those hurt by the pandemic; not to cover the escalating costs of the LEC. The Board of Supervisors says the higher costs have been caused by supply chain issues that were caused by the pandemic. We hear comments from this week's supervisors' meeting.

School is back in session for colleges and universities as well. Briar Cliff University has a new media communication program this fall called sports Sports Information. Sports Information students will learn to communicate and present sports information, and create portfolios highlighting their writing, design, and production skills.

Most philanthropies work hard for the people they serve, however, there is growing concern that some are serving the wealthy at the expense of their mission.
Racial justice advocate and author Edger DeVillanueva founded a group in 2018 that funds minority-led initiative for social justice. It's call Decolonizing Wealth. DeVillanueva also has a new version of his book out of the same name. Decolonizing Philanthropy: Indigenous Wisdon to Heal Divides and Restore Balance. I talked with the author about the "colonizing virus," as he puts it, that is plaguing some philanthropies.
