On this election day, voters in Sioux City are casting ballots for mayor, city council and school board. It’s the first time the two elections have been paired together in Woodbury County.
Marilyn Tyler is the chairperson for a precinct on the northside of Sioux City. Tyler says last month’s primary election was slow, but things are different this time around.
“It’s been very good so far. We opened up at 7 and we had people here before then. They waited and voted.”
Tyler says it’s important for people to vote.
“If you don’t do this you really shouldn’t complain about what goes on here in the city.”

Governor Kim Reynolds today (Tuesday) highlighted national apprenticeship week at a farm equipment dealer in Nevada that got state support to help develop a mechanic training program.
This year, lawmakers approved 1-million dollars for grants to small and medium-sized businesses to develop apprenticeships in high-demand occupations.
Van Wall Equipment CEO Mike Van Houweling (how-ling) says the grant and apprenticeship program is important for his growing business.
“We have a real need to continue to add skilled technicians to our team. In fact, today, if we could add 40 to 50 technicians, we would do it in a heartbeat. That’s a big number that’s very important to our business.”
Reynolds is encouraging students, schools, and businesses to consider registered apprenticeships. The state also has a 3-million-dollar fund to help existing registered apprenticeship programs.
