Check It Out: Save the Date

Looking for a great, easy, romantic story to start your beach reading off right? Save the Date by perennial chick lit powerhouse Mary Kay Andrews is just the ticket.

Florist Cara Kryzik is striving to rebuild her life in Savannah following her divorce and has thrown herself into her business. Over the last year, she has steadily been making a name for herself designing society weddings, but unexpected lulls, equipment failures, and a father anxious to collect on his $20,000 loan have left her struggling.

Hired for a wedding she hopes will secure her career and the success of the shop, Cara thinks her prayers have finally been answered. All she has to do is plan a perfect enormous country wedding between two of Savannah’s oldest families. What could possibly go wrong?

Cutthroat, rival floral designer Cullen Kane complicates things as he believes he should be the one planning the wedding and will stop at nothing to get his way. If that wasn’t bad enough, Cara has to deal with an unhappy bride, the bride’s micromanaging stepmother, and her increasingly distant and unreliable assistant Bert.

The only rose in a tangle of thorns seems to be her new and unexpected romance with local contractor Jack Finnerty. The two meet during a humorous case of puppy mistaken identity and Jack’s persistence and sincerity soon win Cara over.

Will Cara be able to save the wedding and solidify her career as the go-to-girl for Savannah’s nuptials? Will she let down her guard and let love back in?
