The 2020 Iowa Caucuses: What Went Wrong and What Went Right, The Exchange

The Democratic National Committee is calling for an immediate recanvassing of the Iowa caucus results after almost of week of concerns about the technical problems with a reporting app and other issues. The Exchange looks at how the problems unfolded.

Siouxland Public Media talks with local Democratic and Republican leaders about what happened on caucus night and why.  Also, we discuss how some of the positive caucus outcomes, like grassroots political action and registering new voters, may have been ignored in the controversy over the technical problems that delayed the caucus results.

This edition of The Exchange features a panel discussion with Woodbury County Democratic Party Vice-Chair Greg Guelcher, who is also a professor of history at Morningside College.  Also with us is the chair of Woodbury County Republicans, Suzan Stewart, and Valerie Hennings, associate professor of political science at Morningside College. Hennings is the director of the Col. Bud Day Center for Civic Engagement.  Siouxland Public Media's Sheila joins in and reports on her experiences at Sioux City Democratic caucus precinct on Monday evening.
