Today is Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day. It is a solemn day, one that causes us to meditate upon our most frightening nature, directing us to look at not only the horrors of our past, but the violence, intolerance, and indifference of our present. In this broadcast, we hear from Inge Auerbacher, who, as a child, was transported with her mother and father to Terezin, a Nazi concentration camp.

Theatre for Art

Lamb Theatre

    

For their Projects of Hope, Lamb Arts Regional Theatre presents "Metamophoses," May 6. The play brings Ovid's tales to life, and this first night of its run will help to breath a little life into art as all proceeds benefit the Sioux City Art Center. Lamb's Russ Wooley and the Art Center's Erin Webber-Dreeszen joined SPM's Gretchen Gondek. 

 

Shot in the Dark Productions

SPM’s Gretchen Gondek speaks with Jim Sorvaag and Adam Gonshorowski from Shot in the Dark Productions about Crimes of the Heart, running through May 16th at the Evelyn Larson Theatre in  Sioux City. 

This week Gretchen speaks with Rosanne Plante, a certified Master Gardener, attorney and lead instructor/advisor of paralegal studies at WITCC, and Mrs. Iowa International,  about the Green Ambassador program she is implementing to benefit the Sioux City Gospel Mission.  Families and individuals are encouraged to plant a row or portion of hope in their gardens to donate to the Gospel Mission’s soup kitchen and pantry.

SPM’s Gretchen Gondek speaks with Jim Adamson about the celebrated bass-baritone Simon Estes, who will perform at Washington High School Auditorium in Cherokee on April 17th at 4 p.m.  Estes, a native of Iowa, has enjoyed a long and distinguished career in opera, performing at the Metropolitan Opera House and abroad in the world’s greatest opera houses.
