A special event at the Woodbury County Courthouse on Friday attracted local leaders, including Iowa’s Governor Kim Reynolds.
“It’s great to be here and be part of the recognition to be the first ACT Workforce Ready Community and they
are really a model for other communities to follow,” said Reynolds.
Woodbury County became the first in the state to receive an ACT Work Ready Communities Certification. The distinction goes to communities improving the skill level of workers.
The Governor says that’s key to economic development in the state, “I’m so impressed with the coordination and the collaboration on so many levels that Woodbury County to really help their citizens get the skills that they need and to match them up with the career leaders that are here in your county.”
Also, attending the event was Lt. Governor Adam Gregg, who is a native of Hawarden, Iowa.
“What Woodbury County is doing is bringing theFuture Ready Iowa initiative to life,” said Gregg.
The Future Ready Iowa Initiative is for 70% of the workforce to have education or training beyond high school by the year 2025. Less than half of the workforces does now.
