Johnnie and I decided on no theme this week, so I grabbed a dozen cds and played a little bit of this and a little bit of that.

The show starts with Tonio K. and his societal tribute, Life in the Foodchain. This was from his first solo, which is considered one of the best rock albums ever.

We then proceed to late-sixties England and hear from two bands that influenced much of what followed over the subsequent decades. There's Evil Woman from Spooky Tooth, a band that spawned Foreigner, Mott the Hoople and the solo career of Gary Wright. Then comes Traffic with Dear Mr. Fantasy. This band was led by Steve Winwood who had a long career with the band and as a solo artist.

Two cuts from The Wildhearts, TV Tan and Caffeine Bomb, follow. This British band is considered by many as a cross between Motorhead and Cheap Trick, so we also decided to play something from those two groups. Motorhead does Another Perfect Day while Cheap Trick chimes in with Up the Creek.

We throw in some blues with two bands from different coasts. There's Too Slim and the Taildraggers, from Seattle with Stoned Again. Then from Boston we have The J. Geils Band with trip to Floyd's Motel.

The show wraps up with undoubtedly one of the best songs to make it out of England, Led Zeppelin's Communication Breakdown.

While we have no theme this week, we never stop doing the best of rock and blues. That's the B-Sides with Bolin and Blumberg, every Saturday evening at 6 PM only on Siouxland Public Media.
