Waltzes, Sonatas, and Tableaux at Morningside

Pianist Julian Martin will perform a recital of waltzes, sonatas, and tableaux this Saturday in Eppley Auditorium. The artists is now on faculty at Julliard. His career took flight in 1975 as the winner of the Montevideo International Competition. Performances around the world have followed, as have seats on the juries of the major competitions including Montrial, Iowa International, and American Pianists' Foundation.

Dr. James March, director of the Morningside College Piano Recital Series joined us to talk about Martin's program, which consists of waltzes by Brahms and Ravel as well as a sonata by Haydn and two tableaux by Albéniz.

The recital begins at 7:30 PM.

Mark Munger first began listening to public radio as a child in the back of his Mom's VW Vanagon, falling in love with the stories on Morning Edition and Prairie Home Companion and the laughter of Click and Clack on Car Talk. Through KWIT, he was introduced to the great orchestras and jazz artists, the sounds of folk and blues, and the eclectic expressions of humanity. This American Life and Radiolab arrived in his formative college years and made him want nothing more than to be a part of the public radio world.
