The state primary is coming up next Tuesday on June 5th.  There are many state and local offices where there are multiple candidates competing for their party’s nomination.  In Northwest Iowa’s 4thCongressional District, there are three candidates running in the primary for a chance to take on longtime Republican Congressman Steve King of Kiron.  They are JD Scholten, Dr. John Paschen, and Leann Jacobsen.  King also has a Republican challenger, Cyndi Hanson of Sioux City.

The trial over the lawsuit against ABC News continues in Elk Point today.  The network accused Beef Products Incorporated of producing what looked like "pink slime' and calling it meat.  US Republican Senator Charles Grassley is questioning information about wait times at Iowa VA Hospitals and one-time Fourth District Congressional candidate Kim Weaver's claims about Iowa government backlash over her running against Republican Steve King are challenged.  Weaver is a state government worker.
